Not really, I don't want you all out there taking tons of shots at 4 o'clock on Friday
(although I'm sure many of you would like to..)
But I sure as heck want to share my crafty (shot book page) project with you all! (I want truthful feedback everyone!)
Disclaimer: I am by no means encouraging anyone to go out and take 21 shots on their birthday - most girls do not get all the way through it, they stop early on and know their limits. The book is out of good fun and is celebrating being old enough to legally drink.
I know I have readers from all over the place, and not all of you have Michaels craft store -
Those of you on the East Coast prolly have AC Moore? (I used to ask for gift cards to there every summer for my birthday (circa 2000) - I mean crafts on Cape Cod? What more can a girl ask for!)
But in the midwest Michaels is a craft HAVEN (and HEAVEN.. either or..). I walked in the doors of that beautiful store and immediately inhaled the smell of crafts and cheap potpourri, naturally... #spideysmellsenses
I staggered towards the scrapbooking aisles, and let me tell you, I was never a big scrapbooker, but I was AMAZED by how many rows of stickers, pages, and trinkets they had for this hobby.. I just might have to look in to it (what would I scrapbook about? my love of shopping? cats?.. totally cats. ha)

At first I was totally overwhelmed by it all but I quickly gained my sea-scrapbooking-legs and got down to it. After choosing all my supplies, and great stickers (total must-have!) I stumbled upon this baby.. THE SHARPIE STAND. I'm not sure how many of you all have a realtionship with sharpies like I do.. but I love 'em. I'm also strictly devoted to their pens... So you can just start calling me "Sharpie Girl" if you'd like.. but not really. I hate that name -SO scratch that. But you guys would be AMAZED (or maybe not if you've seen something like this before..) by how many sizes of sharpies there are! SHARPIES AS BIG AS MY HEAD! (I mighhhtt be exaggerating there.. haha) But frealz, they're huge and I never knew they came in that big of sizes! #learnsomethingneweveryday
I came home soon after my extravagant (not to mention expensive) Michaels trip, and was ready to start my shot book page! With 7 types of paper, 2 packages of stickers, multicolored glitter, and a really (REALLY) cool glue pen, I dove in.
Annie's 5-Step Directions to the Perfect Shotbook Page:
Step 1: Figuring out how the heck you want to do it.
I first had to come up with a theme, something unique to me and the birthday girl!
Luckily she and I have spent the last two spring breaks in mexico together - so Mexico was a given theme. I started by making the background into the mexican flag, minus the middle emblem.
Step 2: What is spring break without the beach?
I decided it would be cool to have the flag as the sky, and put a beach and ocean at the bottom!
(of course the ocean had to be that beautiful blue color, its my favorite #tiffanyblueobsessed) I recommend drawing out the shape of the ocean and sand before you cut, it makes it MUCH easier
(and do it in pencil! ha)
I glued down the ocean layer first, and then the sand layer, so they are each an individual piece of paper.
Step 3: Sunshine, stickers, and a bunch of glitter!
Again, what is spring break without sun?!(miserable.. thats what..) So I used this cool textured paper and the glitter sand paper to make the sun in the corner. Then I made a little umbrella to go with the chair sticker in the bottom corner, I think it turned out pretty well if I do say so myself :) Next I went out on a whim and outlined the ocean waves in glitter. BE WARNED this was close to impossible to do, the glitter was small and got everywhere. I quickly decided it would be pretty treacherous to also outline the sand and sun in glitter.. count me out! (I don't want to clean that mess up.. pshh)
Step 4: Include the information card (and other cool sticker, duhz)
What is a shot book page without a place to write:
What kind of shot
What time you took it
Who you took it with
and Your drunken signature
For this I took some of the paper I used for the umbrella and put it behind a neon orange note card with a white note card on top where I wrote the information. I thought it was fun to add a little dimension and texture to where she'll write everything down!
Step 5: Glue on pictures and write quotes!
If you're taking the time to make a shotbook page for your friend, or if you've even been asked to do so, it's obvious that you two have a special bond - so why not personalize the page!?
I included pictures of me and the birthday girl. One of us and our moms on SB the first year, and one of us at a decades fraternity informal!(wanted to clarify it was decades, because NO I would not wear that dress on a normal night out, and I borrowed it from one of my lovely roommates - but I have to admit my peace sign earrings were pretty groovy.. lolz) I finished the page off with the page number/shot number I was making, and quotes that only she and I would understand from our Mexican adventures! (granted when she's drunk she prolllyy won't really be focusing on them/understand them anyway.. #Imeanshewillbe21 #andthebirthdaygurll)
This was a really fun project to work on, and it allowed me to show my friend how much I care about her and to have a happy birthday!
(once she sees the book of course, it's a surprise and she doesn't know she's getting one!)
Now go forth my young shotbookers and find a newly 21 year old to make a page for!
(or just go wander your local craft store - its just the same amount of fun haha)
PS: Thoughts? Think she'll like it?
(I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope she's not reading my blog.. haha)
Happy Friday, have a good weekend, and I'll be back on Monday :)
And that is the mission I send you on.. minus the drugs.. and anything that might get you killed.
So essentially, scratch that, be safe, don't talk to strangers, don't take candy from strangers, and mix your own drinks, ladies. #wordsofwisdom
