| Yup, pastel egg macaroons! |
Renting for cheaper, thats what!
First off, happy Monday and almost Easter!
I know it's late in the day, but I'm sure everyone has survived,
or at least I hope everyone has survived the most dreaded day of the week
And I'm not very religious but that doesn't mean that I'm not always looking for a reason to eat chocolate pastel colored eggs :)
Second, this past weekend I was invited by one of my best guy friends to his fraternity's formal..
and I AM SO EXCITED haha
It was totally unexpected,
I was planning on spending the wonderful night of May sixth watching a movie in my room (prolly with swimmer smanger..) ha
So you can imagine what kind of surprise it was when I got the ever-so-nonchalant text of:
"Hey, wanna have fun and go to formal?"
I, of course, said yes I'd love to - but then I realized I was faced with the most common dilemma...
What the heck am I going to wear!?
It may be a little over two weeks away, but better to be prepared than not!
So I of course quickly hopped on to my go-to-dress websites Nordstrom, Anthropologie, Lulu's, and feel free to judge, but Forever 21 (their dresses are cheap and often really cute!)
 |
| Click-through to check it out! |
I found this great one at Nordstrom, and the price tag isn't even that heavy (which is always a plus!) - I'm just a bit worried that it could end up being too casual..
I sent the link to my two best friends and they both seemed to agree that it was cute - but I may be able to find better..
(but of course I dreamt about this dress last night.. embarrassing haha)
Yet, shortly after sending the link to my friends, one of them sent me the link to website,
Now, I was totally unaware that a site like this even existed (I sound like such a newbie) but I'm amazed by it!
Rent the Runway is an "online vendor"(?) that allows you to rent designer dreads (both dresses and accesories) for 90% less than they retail for!
They offer dresses by designers ranging from BCBG to Milly and many many more..
Dresses that would usually retail for hundreds of dollars are yours for a simple fee of (usually) $50 and a $5 insurance fee
(in case the zipper breaks, or you have one too many drinks an manage a stain! - rather be safe than sorry!)
You can search their inventory by:
What's New
Dresses
Accessories
Designers
Occasions
and Weddings
And within each category they allow you to customize your search by size, availability, color, length, etc.
They recommend that you order at least two days in advance, and let you order one size with the second one for free - just to make sure it fits! (HOW GREAT!)
The only downside to this plan is the fact that even if they have your DREAM dress, it may already be rented for the night that you want it - bummer right?
But I guarantee you can find tons and tons of great dresses regardless!
After searching through all of my favorite designers I came upon two dresses that I am particularly in love with..
 |
No, I don't agree with her shoe choice..
I would have chosen nude heels! |
First is this beautiful Tibi Dress - Calla Lily Cap Sleeve Dress-
I just can't get enough of it!
A dress that usually retails at $378 for a $50 rental fee!
The only issues I have with it is that I'm larger busted and I don't quite know what I'd do about a bra... Suggestions?
Next, from one of my favorite designers Milly, the Prim and Proper Bow Dress
This dress usually retails at $385 and only costs $50 to rent.
I think this dress is just precious - its classic with clean lines and who doesn't love a great bow?
My main issue with this one is the fact that it's black - I've been trying to avoid my black obsession
Especially since it's spring! I feel like I need to stick to fun colors to embrace the season!
I also have dark hair soo... ha
I also would not be wearing tights with this dress.. I'm not quite a tights girl, certainly not in the spring!
I would wear nude heels with this dress as well..
But, regardless of what I've found - How great is this site!
If you've tried it out already, I'm super impressed and jealous...
If not? Then get on it and let me know how it goes!
I'll keep you all updated on the dress search - and let me know what you think about these three!
Your input would be greatly appreciated!
Also: Anything particular you college girls out there do to get ready for formals?
Until next time..
