News: Weekend Update

I think this is going to become a weekly thing
Y'know? Like every monday I'll just give you guys a brief synopsis of my probably EXTREMELY eventful weekend (uh.. yah hahaha
Sadly, this is not going to be one of those EXTREMELY eventful weekends..
To sum up the rest of the post (if you just want to stop reading here, feel free): I went home.
Hahaha I decided I'd like to go home because although my fall break is next week, I'll be spending most of my time in Houston for a wedding of a family friend! (but that's a story for another post!)
So I was able to go home, chill out, bring home summer stuff and exchange it for fall stuff, and most importantly, I was able to get some shopping in.. naturally.

Let's get to it!

Thursday:
I got home around 3 and little did I know, both of my parents had plans to ditch me for the night (thanks mom and dad) but I, being the big 21-year-old I am, went out to the bars and got CuHrAZZiii drunk.. Just kidding muhahaha instead I came up with a fun alternate plan - Bake pumpkin spice cake balls, of course! Let me just tell you, this was great fun haha I went to the grocery store to get all of the supplies (mind you, I decided I wanted to make these while I was at the grocery store - I was hoping Kroger would provide for some really great inspiration.. embarrassing - #mrsinthemaking) and I of course couldn't find the canned pumpkin - who knew it was in the baking aisle not the "Canned fruit and vegetable" aisle, I think they need to think about their logic there - but they didn't ask me, soo.. end of story, I found all that I needed. Now, this ended up being a like 3 hour endeavor, but my mom provided solid company as she hovered and claimed she "couldn't eat an entire cake-ball but would love some crumbs.." - Of course Mom, anything for you! Great time had by all - and I recommend making them if you have any free time! They turned out great.
(I got back to school with them and swimmer smanger had two immediately, nbd.)
(Then I watched four episodes of Modern Family and one of The New Girl - just me alone in my lovely bed - best night EVER)

Friday:
This was damage day for sure - Did I go shopping alone? With no one to tell me not to buy things? You betcha I did. Was it a terrible idea? Of course, I could have told you that before I even left for the mall!
First purchase: (from Ulta)
Why new hair products of course! Better yet? It was buy two get one free for Redkin (my favorite!)
1. Blown Away 09 Blow-Dry Gel - Oh my goodness, this is an amazing product. I don't have very thick hair, but this doesn't weigh my hair down, and it cuts down drying time by like 3 minutes. Not to mention it smells lovely!
2. Extreme Anti-Snap  I can't be the only one out there who has the problem of their hair constantly being so brittle at the ends that it just snaps off? (Plus, its totally fun to pick at in class.. #gross?)
Well this stuff is supposed to help that - not sure if it does yet cosidering the fact I've only owned it for about 3 days.. But I have full faith in it! (I'll keep you updated)
Next downfall?
Nordstrom, J.Crew, LuLu Lemon: I mean how can I go to the mall and NOT wander into Nordstrom? Its bright lights and enticing bright colors? I just couldn't avoid it. I was greeted by the shoes and boots but had to shield my eyes.. JKZ. I totally browsed haha AND found shoes for the wedding next weekend (brought Dad back the next day for those babies, I framed them as a "necessity" for the wedding.. he crumbled at that. Oh what a negotiator I am!) then wandered upstairs to the "Juniors section" - I mean I might not be a junior, but lets be real, the prices are always lower there #collegestudentbudget. Naturally I found a sweater. Im gonna be honest. I'm still not sure if it's ugly. But the tags are off so I better like it. #whitegirlproblems  - Next wandered over to J.Crew, I barely made it out alive, but one sweater later (with a student discount, waddupp!) and I survived. And LuLu Lemon? Also unavoidable, scraped by there with merely a yoga pant purchase (not to mention, an ON SALE yoga pant purchase #win)

Saturday:
Woke up real early (think 9AM early... rough.) and had breakfast with an old friend at Petite Chou in Broadripple. It was great to see her, but we sat outside - I wasn't quite prepared for it.. Picture me: Running shorts, DePauw T-shirt, Flipflops, 60 Degrees - Good thinking, Annie. Regardless it was great to play catch-up and my meal was fantastic! I had a crêpe with scrambled eggs and cheese inside and cinnamon sugar toast, totally worth waking up so early!
I spent the rest of Saturday hanging out with my Dad - Great time haha I convinced him to go back to the mall which is always hilarious. His leaving comment?:
(we had been there for like an hour.. such a short time)
"Annie, I think I've had enough retail until Christmas"
Thats my dad, such a shopper. That night I did my laundry (can't manage to do it at school, long trek with a laundry bag? Count me out) and he and I ordered Bazbeaux pizza, and we watched one of the many Law & Order: SVU marathons - he was hooked, he barely made it to bed by his 10PM bed time. Poor guy, couldn't get enough of Stabler and Oliva  #crimeshowproblems

Sunday:
BIG DAY! The Container Store was open and Sara was home! We made plans on Saturday night, so we wouldn't miss valuable Container Store time. Picked her up at around 12 and we were in the store ASAP. We didn't buy anything (damn lines being too long) but as Sara famously quoted,
"Think of the garage organization opportunities! Once we have a garage of course.."
-Always thinking ahead Sara, great job haha
Then we headed over to the mall (was it my third time at the mall this weekend? Nope. My fourth. I left out one time because I thought you all would be concerned for me..) and had some lunch in the food court (bad choice. Chewy chicken killed it.) and went back to J.Crew and Nordstrom - whaddya know!
And I, of course, purchased more - It's official, you all can say it - I HAVE A PROBLEM. But I'm really going to stop. I ended up with two beautiful purchases, and went back to school a happy girl.

If you read this entire thing? I salute you, and love you.
If you didn't? I don't blame you. I rambled.

How was everyone else's weekends?
Exciting stuff? Embarrassing moments? Good shopping finds?
Feel free to share :)

Hope everyone has survived Monday and is ready for Tuesday! I know I am - one day closer to fall break!

I did some baking this weekend too, it's so nice just being at home and doing nothing! That's what I did all weekend too!

Looks like you had a fun weekend! Those pumpkin spice cake balls look so yummy and cute! I have always been curious about cake balls.. but I am 1) not a good cook/baker and 2) extremely messy so mine would look very unappetizing most likely! Props to you though!!
